HOW DO I CHOOSE WHICH SCHOOL TO STUDY AT FOR MAKE-UP?

Start by researching the different make-up training facilities in your area. Ensure the trainers at these facilities are working artists in the make-up industry and have extensive experience with an up to date portfolio. Ask who will be training you throughout your chosen course and meet the trainers to get a feel for their experience and industry knowledge. Ask what type of product and kit you will receive during training as it is important that professional products are used at all times. Kohl does not believe in “student kits”, all kits and products are on par with what is relevant to the working industry. You can only become a professional if you are taught by professionals with professional tools. Ask to view the training manuals and how often the training manuals get updated. This is important as we work in an ever changing industry and your training facility must be on trend and up to date with all skills and techniques. Look at the standard of work delivered by past students by viewing their final portfolios. This will give you a very good indication of the level of training you can expect. View the facilities to ensure the environment is up to a professional standard. As this is a portfolio based industry at Kohl part of our training is assisting the students in building their portfolio where by a professional photographer captures their work. This teaches the students model sourcing, creating concepts, design and implementation, working with a team, how their work reads on camera and creating industry standard book worthy work.
